Help me make Virtual Reality Documentary about isolated city!

Hi! My name is Artur and I am indie filmmaker from Latvia. Through years I dedicated a big part of my life to movie world, I even finished my BA degree in audiovisual arts of film directing. For now I got two finished short movies - "Looking for the flying man" which participated in international film festivals, and "Dikdieni" which participated in local film festivals. You can see a showreel of my short films above!

This year 360 movie making has gone wild that even big movie festivals dedicated some of their time for 360 films - which showed the other side of audiovisual media, and how the 360 movies can not just entertain people, but tell heartwarming stories different way. I am sure that with my experience I will find a new ways of working with 360 degree videos and I will make compelling and interesting story to watch.

I would like to create a documentary about a city I live in - Daugavpils. With financial crisis, low salaries and no way to find work here, a lot of people went to other countries, to look for better life there. In my documentary I want to show a different side of my city where the people who still lives here can find a happiness and interesting places to visit, and also keep a calm lifestyle despite of big emptiness around. I want to show our nature and life essence of the city itself. That is why I think 360 is the best way to show it, so person who will watch this film can be in this place, feel it, and pay his attention to the objects he wants to.

Like in this photo you can see one of the habits of the people of my city, where they go to public garage not to take they car, but to party with friends, and this is just a small part of what we will show in our documentary.

I need financial help to buy a 360 Camera - Ricoh Theta V (which costs 400 $) and also sound equipment that can record spatial sound (Ricoh Theta special audio recorder for the camera which costs 269 $)- it will help me to start my project, because for all the filming and editing I will use my free time. This is documentary, so I see there is no need for a lot of financing as I am not going to travel somewhere but I am gonna to film my city that is why I only need help to buy all the technical stuff for filming. It will mean a lot for me, that I would be able to realize this idea.

By creating this film I am hopping to rise attention of people who left our city and even country, that they should give a second chance to our city and return back. This film will help not only people from my city, but also from people around the world, because the main point of the movie is to show how you can find a beautiful things even in a grey post-soviet city, which will raise attention to persons thinking about the things he sees around him, and maybe they will start seeing things in more positive way.
