POMOZITE NAM ISPUNITI SNOVE DJECI I MLADIMA SA SINDROMOM DOWN

U Zagrebu postoji jedna udruga koja od 1999. godine omogućava svim bebama, djeci, mladima i odraslima sa sindromom Down zdrav razvoj, odrastanje i uključivanje u zajednicu, istovremeno pružajući potpunu podršku roditeljima, a ta udruga smo mi - Udruga Down Zagreb. Imamo više od 270 članova - osoba sa sindromom Down, od kojih je 165 aktivnih.

Pitate se, zašto smo pokrenuli ovu kampanju, obzirom na to da se sve čini vrlo dobro organiziranim, a dječji žamor i smijeh se čuju puno prije ulaska u udrugu? Dat ćemo vam nekoliko razloga …

Zato što je 220 kvadrata puno premalo za 165 osoba;

Zato što su 3 terapeuta (edukacijski rehabilitator, logoped i radni terapeut) zaposlena na puno radno vrijeme i 1 administrativni djelatnik (koordinator rada udruge) zaposlen na pola radnog vremena puno premalo za ozbiljnu rehabilitaciju;

Zato što su 2 potpuno opremljena kabineta za terapije sa djecom, 1 velika radionica za poludnevni boravak s odraslima, 1 mala kuhinja, 1 mali ured, 2 mala toaleta, 2 mala hodnika i 1 mala dvorana puno premalo za nekakvu ozbiljnu terapiju, rad, pripremu obroka i blagovanje te kreativne radionice;

Zato što, kako bismo pomogli obiteljima lošijeg imovinskog i socijalnog stanja, moramo prvo biti u mogućnosti pomoći sebi;

Zato što putem edukacija i terapija omogućujemo sve većem broju svoje djece (trenutno 30-oro) integraciju u redovni sustav obrazovanja, kao i zaposlenje nakon školovanja;

Zato što gotovo nitko ne zna koliko je truda, rada, terapija i financijskih sredstava potrebno uložiti u malu bebu sa sindromom Down samo kako bi ona naučila sjediti, puzati i hodati i zbog toga se borimo da sva naša djeca dobiju Zakonsko pravo na na osobnu invalidninu koje će joj sve ovo omogućiti;

Zato što se, kako bismo radili svoj posao najbolje što možemo, konstantno trebamo usavršavati putem edukacija, seminara i uz pomoć novih tehnologija;

Zato što udruga nema svoje prijevozno sredstvo;

Konačno, zato što smo mi, bez obzira na sve, sretni i zahvalni za svaki novčić kojim nam pomažete ostvariti svoje snove, kako bismo i mi jednoga dana podijelili svoja znanja i sredstva sa ostalim udrugama te na ovaj način doprinijeli razvoju zdravog društva.

HELP US FULFIL THE DREAMS OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH DOWN SYNDROME

There is an association in Zagreb that has been providing all babies, children, young people and adults with Down syndrome with healthy development, growing up and inclusion in the community since 1999, while providing full support to parents, and that is us - the Down Zagreb Association. We have more than 270 members - people with Down syndrome, 165 of whom are active.

You might be wondering why we started this campaign, when everything seems quite well organized, and children's laughter is heard long before one approaches the entrance of our office? We will give you a few reasons…

Because 220 square meters is far too little for 165 people;

Because 3 full-time therapists (educational rehabilitator, speech therapist and occupational therapist) and 1 part-time administrative employee (coordinator of the Association's work) is far too little for serious rehabilitation;

Because 2 fully equipped cabinets for therapy with children, 1 large workshop for a half-day stay with adults, 1 small kitchen, 1 small office, 2 small restrooms, 2 small hallways and 1 small hall is far too little for some serious therapy, work, meal preparation, dining and creative workshops;

Because, in order to help families with low income and social status, we must first be able to help ourselves;

Because through education and therapy we enable an increasing number of our children (currently 30) to integrate into the regular education system, as well as employment after school;

Because almost no one knows how much effort, work, therapy and funds need to be invested in small babies with Down syndrome, just to make them learn to sit, crawl and walk, which is why we are fighting for all our children to get the Legal Right to Personal Disability Benefit that will enable all this;

Because, in order to do our job to our best abilities, we need to constantly improve ourselves through education, seminars, and befriend new technologies;

Because the Association does not have its own means of transportation;

Finally, because we are regardless of all, happy and grateful for every penny that helps us fulfil our dreams, so that one day we can share our knowledge and resources with other associations, thus contributing to the development of a healthy society.
