Down payment to move my family to a better place

my husband and I have been trying to buy our first home for the past 6 years, every time we save up money for a down payment something happens where the money needs spent, like the car breaks down or when we got in a bad accident and I broke my hip and arm and my husband had to take time off from work to help out with the baby and me and we lost on wages, but with 3 kids now this place is too small and is not working anymore. We finally have a good enough credit score to get a mortgage loan now we just need the last $1200 for a down payment.
