Hi, I'm Donna and here is my story..

I thought I'd give everyone a brief understanding about me and who I am. I have always loved dogs and have been around them my entire life. My sister actually shows dogs and my mom did as well. Although I never got into the "dog show" part, I learned a lot through them. Last year I worked for a rescue and LOVED being a foster, until...I experienced foster failure. That's right, I fell madly in love with the dog I was fostering, and the dog was ripped out of my arms because of it. Needless to say, I stopped fostering for this particular rescue. I removed all of the news feeds about dogs, and just tried to get over my loss. Fast forward a year. I was on FB when I saw this video of a little dog who was bitten and left at N. Central Animal Shelter to die, I suppose. The networking that was done on this little guy was amazing. He was to get on a plane and be shipped to Canada so a foster needed to step up for 5 days. I stepped up and said I would do it. The following day I was picking up my new foster Teddy Bear. That was almost 2 months ago and he is still here. :) Best two months of my life. He is paralyzed, has no control over his bladder or bowels, but has a zest for life the size of Texas. He is amazing and everyday, he re-assures me that I am doing what God put me on earth to do. I should NEVER have seen that post, remember, I took everyone off over a year ago. Come to find out, my cousin in NJ liked Saving K9 Lives Plus and that's how I saw this perfect puppy.

I was contacted by a woman who needed to place a dog, and although Saving K9 Lives Plus is full and really focuses in on Shelter rescue, I said I would do it. Long story short, the dog was taken from right under my nose and I had found the purfect home for her. I was devastated. I pray that this dog is taken care of and happy, because at the end of the day, that's what we all want, right? Well, I started looking on CL and I was amazed on how many people are selling dogs although they call it "re-homing" Ok, call it what you want, if you can come up with the money the dog is yours. It's a sale. SMH, makes me sick to even think about this. I left numerous emails begging them not to ask for a 60.00 re-homing fee and think that their dog is going to a perfect home. Of course, no one listens, it's all about money. Upon looking I found an ad for Bradley and Cooper (not named) - I responded and listened to the horrifying story about these 2 dogs and knew I had to rescue them. They needed to come here so that they would be safe and cared for. So here I am with my own dogs, fostering my special need and my 1st rescue of not 1 but 2 dogs that needed me. I have decided to branch out on my own, so I am calling myself Donna's Dog Walk and Rescue. I am small, not a non profit, just a very caring citizen who wants to save dogs from even having to go to the shelter. I will NOT EVER pay a re-homing fee, I will simply take in the dogs that the owners are otherwise going to take to the shelter. I have started a fundraiser for help. Every single dime will go back into the dogs. Vets, food, chip, whatever they need to get adopted out to their furever home. If you want to help me, I would appreciate it, and if you don't, I will figure out a way to make this work. My heart tells me this is my calling.

So that's it in a nutshell, My name is Donna and I am committed to saving lives, 1 or 2 at a time.

Thank you for reading/donating to this very worthy cause.
