We found a malnourished stray cat. Never seen around the block before. Thin and haggard looking. So we fed her with cat food we bought for the previous cats that came up to our corridor. One day, we found her injured, she got into a fight with another cat. Brought her to the vet out of pity and found out that she was pregnant. We took her in and let her give birth in our home. She gave birth to 5 kittens on 30 March 2019. All 5 survived. However, one of them pulled the short end of the stick at around 2 months old. His name is Yogi. He suddenly became lethargic and kept sleeping the whole day and refuses to walk around and join in with his other siblings like he used to. We thought that he was tired from playing with his siblings. Then one day, we saw that he started to limp on one of is legs and a few days later his hind legs were no longer working for a few minutes. He was dragging his body in order to move. However the next day he was able to move but his hind legs were still weak. So we went to 4 different doctors. The first told us that his liver enzymes are abnormally high after a blood test and he might have a liver shun (liver not working and shrivelling), hence we sent him for an ultrasound scan for his liver. Fortunately his liver was fine. Unfortunately, we don't know the cause. So we went to a second clinic and a third. The second just gave us liver supplements which was not a solution to the actual cause while the third claims that Yogi has FELV/FIV and told us to prepare for the worst during the next week or so. We also found out that he is deaf...Feeling that we can do more for Yogi, we tried one last time and visited another vet who suspected that he twisted his spine from a fall back then and hurt his nerves in his hind legs. We are giving him nerve supplements and making sure he doesn't fall and hurt his back again. Altogether the total bill for all medications plus X-Ray, blood test and ultrasound scan results amounted to $900.After all these, we are so thankful that he is back to his normal hyper self but he will never be as strong as his other siblings. It would be of great help to have some monetary donations in order to take care of the needs of Juby, the mother cat, and her 5 kittens. Juby being a stray cat, has several problems especially with her skin and her frequent visits to the vets were not cheap. This family of cats are really close, they sleep together, groom one another and play with each other every single day without fail and it would be so heart-breaking to separate them. We have had people interested in one of my kittens but they just wanted one and are not willing to take any of his siblings along. We just do not want to separate them. Taking care of 6 cats can be very financially taxing. We spend around $300 per month excluding vet costs so we hope that you could donate some, a little goes a long way. :)
