Hello, I am Hasan. An ambitious and determined 25 year old, with a big dream. Currently, an illegal immigrant in Malaysia and at the verge of throwing in the towel. My hope for a better life for my family and I fades with each minute. I’m raising this money for get back home to stand with my family. I need your kindness to reach my goal!

This is my story.

I come from a close-knit family in Bangladesh. My life has been bitter sweet. Well for the last couple of years, more bitter than sweet. I have been raised in a family of four. My parents who I believe are the sweetest and most caring parents in the world and my younger sister who is 16 years old.

Growing up, our lives where comfortable. My father who is now 55 years old has been the family’s sole breadwinner. Working in a private company, he has struggled to provide our basic needs. He has also taken care of my mother’s health needs, given that she has lived with asthma for the past 20 year and undergone three major operation without enjoying full recovery. To date, she still takes medication daily and uses up to two inhalers in one month. Unfortunately, my younger sister was also diagnosed with asthma adding to the burden that my father has had to bear.

My father has always believed in me and encouraged me to aim for the sky. With his ability and capacity to work reducing with each year, making sure that I was educated and equipped with everything I needed to make it in life was his mission. For my family, I was and still am their hope for a better life. Therefore, when the opportunity to go to Malaysia and pursue a Diploma in IT was presented, my family went out of their way to ensure I did not miss this chance. Going to Malaysia meant a step closer to a good life. My father borrowed over $4000 from people and with the help of an agent who we would later find out was a con; everything was set for my life-changing journey to Malaysia.

As for me am now currently in Malaysia as an illegal immigrant without any legal documents. This is not my will and my expectation.

The long awaited day, 7th November 2015 I flew to Malaysia with a student visa card and a heart full of hope and expectations. On arrival, my dream slowly started turning into a nightmare. It is standard procedure to have a medical screening on arrival to a new country and after taking mine, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis-B. The next logical step to take was to contact my college and chat the way forward. I was shocked beyond words, when I found out that the college only existed virtually. In reality, there was no physical address hence, no college. My agent was my last hope and my attempt to reach him were futile. He had vanished off the face of the world.

Here I am in a new country with no visa, no college and no one to turn to. Lost, confused and shaken with the amount of inhumanity in this world. How a person could create such an elaborate plan to dupe innocent people is still shocking to me. All my father’s efforts and dreams had gone down the drain in a spun of hours. ‘When life gives you lemons make lemonade’. This is something I had learnt early in life so giving up was not an option. I engaged a local agent to find out if there was a way to salvage what was left of my dreams. He asked for at least $2500 to help me with process of getting a new visa or work permit. Doing petty jobs that earned me barely $1 an hours, I raised the funds, gave it to him and as if my situation was not bad enough, he vanished with my hard-earned money.

Three years, six months later I am still in Malaysia illegally. Nothing has improved. In fact, things could not be worse. Getting employment as an undocumented person has become like finding a needle in a haystack. In addition to this, the Malaysia Government has grown more intolerant towards illegal immigrants. The immigration police department has started a crackdown operation dabbed ‘Ops Mega 3.0’ with an aim of ridding their country off all illegal immigrants.

If caught, an illegal immigrant faces a jail

after which they will be deported to their country if they can able to pay the penalty and ticket fees , on raising $1000 for penalty and ticket fees. I know that if nothing changes, it is only a bit of time before the authorities get to me.

At this moment, going back home even if it will break my family’s heart is the best if not the only option. I need help to raise $10,000 to help me go back home and give life another shot. With the kind donation from well-wishers and king hearted people, the $10,000 will be a lifesaver. I will be able to pay for my penalty fees and ticket back home, pay the debt my father took to give me a better opportunity and start a small business to sustain us.

You are the light at the end of the dark tunnel my life has turned into.Raising these funds will be my second chance in life. I will be forever grateful for any kind of donation. That $1 you consider small is worth so much more for me.

Thank you.
