A Young Father’s Fight for Life
Von is a 28 year old, vibrant young man. An IT professional who supports a family, his young wife Cielo and his 3-year old everyone fondly calls Dom-dom. He is someone whom you can say living a healthy lifestyle, playing basketball, riding his bicycle regularly and enjoying weekends and holidays and resting. The only downside to his lifestyle was that he was always awake at night as his work requires him to be on the graveyard shift.
In July of 2017, he started complaining of headache. It was far from the regular ones so initially he ignored it and thought it was just fatigue. But when it became regular, he visited a doctor who told him it was muscle spasm and prescribed some medicines. Unfortunately, his body had allergic reaction to a medicine prescribed so he went back to the doctor. Afterwards, he decided to consult another doctor who ordered he undergo MRI a week after.
July 29,2017 – he went to his hometown to celebrate the birthday of his nephew. He was okay, happily chatting with relatives and friends even discussing future plans. But on July 30, the unexpected happened, he fell sick, was chilling and he was turning blue so the family decided to rush him to the hospital.
First week of August, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Everyone was surprised and devastated, how could this happen to someone as young as him? What will happen to his child? Where will the family get help? All these questions were in the minds of him, his relatives and friends.
However, despite all the questions and worries, Von was positive that he can get through it – even leaving his doctors amazed. With his and his family’s faith in God coupled with the support of his friends, he is now fighting the battle with the Lord. Asking everyone for blood donation as he needed transfusion and apheresis, a lot of people were willing to donate. Everyone willing to pitch in and help.
However, as they say, “cancer is disease of the rich” - chemotherapy, blood transfusion and all the medical processes cost so much, so although the family is helping each other out financially, funds are slowly (or fast) depleting.
Von wants to fight for his life - for his family, for his son. And even if it means asking others for help, he wants to try and do it if it means getting all the needed procedures to extend his life and spend more time with his young family. He won’t let cancer reduce the chance of enjoying a life to the full – we all hope you can help him do that.
We’re knocking at the door of your hearts to help Von fight this battle. Small or big – it will definitely help. Please donate now and help this young dad live longer. His family is thanking you all in advance.
Your prayers will be appreciated - and your cheers despite this trying times will make him strong.
