August 21,2018 ; Tuesday- Donate from the heart,Save a heart! Fundraising campaign:
- It is with great sadness that I have to post this request for fundraising.
- 31 years old Erica Fernando (my cousin) has been sick for 3 days, had a HEART ATTACK and in critical state confined at CCU Department (Critical/Coronary Care Unit) Iranian Hospital, Satwa, Dubai. Being a Single Mother of 4 kids, Her Mother (which is my Aunt) died at an early age, Her Father is bedridden for couple of years because of Heart stroke that caused Him paralyze. Erica, as the only child (no siblings at all) seems too difficult for Her to seek help, not to mention that She is a breadwinner in the family.
- In addition to her late diagnosis of Cardiac arrest, She has a Diabetes, Hypertension and High levels of Cholesterol. Her life threatening condition is noticed during working hours because of chest pain complaints & heart burn contractions. Erica's heart condition became worse that leads Her to take off from duty and was sent home by the Immediate Superior. Later that day We took her to Karama Medical Centre for a check-up and Doctor's advise is to bring Her to Emergency department, hence she was referred & I sent Her to the Hospital.
- Late night She was rushed to the CCU (Critical/Coronary Care Unit) for extensive monitoring as Heart enzymes dramatically increases rapidly to find out that She's experiencing a heart attack!
- Yesterday (August 20;Monday) Angiogram/Angiography is done. This procedure is performed if you have blockages in arteries that are causing symptoms.
- An angiogram is commonly performed under sedation with the use of local anesthesia.
- The procedure usually starts with a needle put into the femoral (groin) artery. After access is established, catheters (thin tubes) and wires are threaded through the arterial system to the Heart. As a contrast agent (iodine dye) is injected, X-ray images are taken to let your vascular surgeon view the flow of the dye and identify blockages. The surgeon can then choose the best mode of therapy for you - whether during or following the angiogram. This decision depends on your symptoms and the severity and characteristics of the blockages.
- Two common therapies that can be provided during the angiogram:balloon angioplasty/ stent placement.
- Without having an open heart surgery, She is at risk for a stroke & heart failure. As a family we're unable to cover the cost of Erica's new surgery
- We are appealing to all well wishers, friends, relatives, colleagues, acquaintances and donors to come along for aid of Erica and help Her save Her dear life.

- While struggling with her own health concerns, Erica is an OFW working at a Restaurant chain in Dubai and She misses work due to Her health condition. We are hoping that God will do a miracle and stabilize the health of my cousin Erica.
- We have these campaign to raise funds for Her medical bill, mainly for the Heart Surgery. May God touch your kind hearts to lend a helping hand
