Hussam Al Herafi from Syria, he is around 31 years old. He left his family at August 2012 and traveled to Egypt to avoid the mandatory army recruitment in the Syrian military service. For him it’s not about abandoning responsibility toward his country, it’s about not being a part of this ugly war he just want to live normal life like usas a normal person.

According to the Syrian law any person has brothers and did not fulfill his mandatory military service, he should travel abroad for period of four years and pay 8,000 USD (nearly 7000 €) as a “Cash Allowance/Badal” to get his exemption.

And if the four year period has passed and the government didn’t collect the “Cash Allowance” my friend will not be able to renew his passport, therefore he will not be able to see his family or travel to any other country, Then “Immigration department” in Egypt, will not renew his residence to stay any more in side Egypt, besides he will be kicked out to the country immediately to join the military service in Syria by force.

By December 2016 Hussam should pay the full amount of 8000 USD( 7000 € ) to the Syrian government in order to be able to renew his passport and see his family again.
