Hello and thanks for your time,

My name is Matei and I'm 27 years old. I live in Romania, a very beautiful country but, unfortunately, poor and unhappy because of the politicians. In order to make a brief idea, Romania impresses with its beautiful beaches at the Black Sea, the excellent ski slopes in the Carpathian Mountains, the huge plains in Dobrogea, the wonderful lakes around Bucharest (the capital of Romania), mud volcanoes, fascinating depressions and caves all over the country.

However, on one hand we are rich in landscapes and touristic attractions, but on the other hand we are very unhappy, unlucky and sick: we do not have new hospitals, the conditions in the old ones are very bad and the social care centers can be compared to cages found in zoos. To be more specific, in Romania, in June 2016, the Government reported no less than 58,000 children in the social and care centers. Out of these, nearly 10,000 are between 0 and 13 years old. You can see an explicit video here.

Social centers are very small and unhealthy place, lacking the basic things for a decent care and education for children. They need clothes, school supplies, books, food and normal and natural things that they cannot get from their social assistants: smiles, love and joy.

Social centers in Romania are not a good environment for children's development, for their good education, healthy development, a decent present and a bright future. It is in our duty, the civil society, to do something. Governors do nothing for children!

Let me explain what I intend to do. But for that, I desperately need your help! I’m a charity person, I’ve been involved in charity actions along with my friends and colleagues. And I managed to bring happiness on children’s faces in three care centers in Bucharest.

Last year, I was able to save a car industry symbol, a Volkswagen Bus Split built in 1958. The car was abandoned in the yard of some farmers who were preparing to take it to the scarp yard. After hard negotiations, I managed to save it. But its condition is rough. I didn’t have in mind that is a very hard project to carry on.

Its condition is deplorable, as can be seen from the photographs: it has no engine, no interior, the floors are eaten by rust. It’s basically a nutshell. It needs everything, from panels, front nose, doors, windows, seats etc. A complete restoration costs me $ 50,000. It’s a lot of money for a young guy who doesn’t have rich parents nor any other financing sources. Now I am raising money to do all the metal parts.

That's why I decided to write to you, desperately asking for help. I want to restore my car to help the children in need, the children from the social care centers. It would be very easy for me to get a newer van that does not require restoration. But through this social cause I will save both children and the symbol of the automotive industry. If I buy a new van, the kids would be disappointed if Scooby Doo's band would not appear at the door of the social center in a colorful car with characters from cartoons like Scooby Doo, Fred, Velma or Shaggy. Yes, I wanted to form Scooby Doo's gang and go to Romania to social centers to donate clothes, food, school supplies, smiles and joy.

So, I decided to write this letter to you as a desperate help cry. I know that you are a big parts manufacture for such cars, so I thought you would resonate with my cause.

You guys rock! Your gift is greatly appreciated and will be used to help others.

All the restauration process will be filmed and documented on YouTube, Facebook & Instagram.

Thank you for your time and God bless you all!
