Comfort zones are made to jump out of and on Saturday 7th of October, I'll be jumping way out of mine and getting together with three friends to compete in Lip Sync Battles Rathcoffey, in aid of our local GAA Club.
As some of you know, I've been involved in Rathcoffey GAA club for most of my life and am currently an active committee member. A small junior club in North Kildare, we have always aimed high and every year we try to improve our facilities for players (adults and children), for our members, and beyond the members, for the local community.
This year, we are raising funds for a number of capital projects, including a 1km floodlit community walkway around the perimeter of the club grounds to cater for walkers, parents with prams, joggers or anyone looking for a safe exercise amenity off the busy public roads. Funds raised will also contribute to the completion of new pitches including for our growing juvenile section.
Rehearsals have been underway for several weeks now, at nights and weekends; it's hard work but great fun. Our act is a closely held secret until the big reveal on the night but we're a four piece called Quiksilver (with a working title of 'Nightmare on Freddie Street').
With less than two weeks to show time, rehearsals are intensifying. We should be ready for Ireland's Got Talent at some stage, but in the meantime, I would really appreciate your support.
