Disability Services Graduate Seeks Loan Assistance

        I have always wanted to work in a career dedicated to fulfilling God's plans for my life and where I could bring light and assistance into the lives of others. Since the time I was 10, I have been greatly involved in my local non-profits as well as my church missions teams. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and with a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling with a specific focus on working with children with disabilities through Animal Assisted Behavioral Therapy and Service Animals.

        Upon graduation, I had trouble finding work like most of the other recent graduates. I initially worked as an Adoptions Counselor for a local non-profit but was recently laid off due to lack of funding. My husband, who also has student loan debt is working at a minimum wage position until he can find a job in his degree field as well. I am currently working odd jobs to help with bills until I can find employment in a permanent position in rehab.

        My lifelong dream is to work towards opening up a counseling facility for adults and children with disabilities where I can incorporate many forms of animal assisted behavioral therapy into the rehabilitation and to establish an organization in my area for the training of service dogs. I am very passionate about creating an additional facility dedicated only to the training and raising of service dogs for individuals who are wheelchair bound or have vision impairments. The facility would not only train and raise the service dogs but it would also provide these animals at no cost to the individuals needing the therapy animals. As big as my dreams are, it will be nearly impossible to move forward with them without the love, prayer, and support of others. I know God has a plan for me and these dreams, and I know that with the right support, I can fulfill my dreams and provide these services to adults and children needing rehabilitative therapy.

Once I have removed 25% to 50% of this debt, I can work towards the start up costs of this facility.
