Dimitri’s Top surgery

Hello! My name is Dimitris and I am 21 years old. I am a transgender guy (ftm) living in Thessaloniki, Greece. I have just finished my degree in cooking at a public school and I have 2 younger sisters that I am trying to provide for, since my parents can’t, because I want them to have a chance at a better childhood than me. I have been on HRT for 1.5 years and from day one I have been dreaming about having my top surgery. After all those injections, my body has changed a lot, but not my chest… My legal papers have yet to be changed… So you can see how my image and papers don’t match neither my face nor my voice and that has been the cause of extreme gender dysphoria for me. Finding a job has become a big problem due to all these, and saving for this surgery (which in Greece is considered a cosmetic surgery and is not covered by insurance) without my family’s support, alongside with paying for HRT and doctor appointments and living on my own is an impossible task. Transgendered people have it hard already. We have to fight just for the chance to be ourselves. The stares that people give, their opinion and insults define our every day, making it hard to even get up in the morning or look ourselves in the mirror. And I don’t wish that on anyone. I would love for a chance to one day look in the mirror and feel like I am finally “me”. Like I am finally free and able to fully be who I am supposed to be, so that I can provide for me and my sisters the best way that I can.
