The main purpose of the DEEP Kenya organisation is to give children a voice and communities around schools in Kenya the tools to create equal opportunities for quality education. The purpose of this proposal is to support the 11 schools now involved in the programme, to give them a conducive digital learning environment. The pupils are the main beneficiaries of the programmes. By working closely together with the communities in and around the schools, all the stakeholders get more self-confidence and self esteem and can take ownership of the project.

Since the inception in 2018, DEEP Kenya has worked with a number of teams and organizations to help them achieve their aspirations. DEEP Kenya has become a partner of choice for many schools as well as partnering organizations, in particular because of our holistic approach to partnership. Specifically, DEEP Kenya has distinguished itself from other educational organizations as we:

  • Build capacity, not dependency, for effective action in individuals, teams, schools and organizations in a way that is self-sustaining, replicable, and continuously evolving.
  • Co-create learning processes with our teams that help the learners and school communities develop new ways of thinking and acting over time.
  • Provide a tested set of concepts, tools, methodology, and processes that enable, accelerate, and diffuse learning to ensure breakthrough results.
  • Provide an environment for hands-on learning and also encourage our teams and networks to learn by doing

By incorporating technology, students have access to a wealth of resources and can collaborate with their peers and teachers from anywhere, at any time. This approach has shown to improve student performance and engagement. The specific programme which is developed based on the experiences of the past 5 years involves Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Learning by Doing (Entrepreneurial skills) and intercultural collaboration through (visual) storytelling.

The budget is to facilitate eleven schools in six different counties in Kenya. St. Elizabeth Kamuthi Girls, Gisambai Secondary ,The Precious Ark, Gidagadi Secondary, Highway Secondary, Givogi Primary , St. Andrews Nuu, Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, Karima Girls , Nkoilale Primary and Baba Gurston Primary

The budget is divided in 1. Material & Service delivery costs (55 %), DEEP Capacity Building costs (26%), Other Organizational Costs (6 %) and Lobby and Advocacy costs (13 %).

We will equip the eleven schools with digital lab and install wifi Internet to all the eleven schools

The cost of internet for the schools Ksh 6000 monthly will be divided between the schools and DEEP Kenya. This guarantees that schools will always have the possibility to be connected to the internet. The Regional Coordinators will travel to the schools with at least one board member and or with a technical expert to do a baseline survey as well as programme assessments of all the eleven schools.
