Diego’s Surgery Fund

The lessons Diego has taught me over the years are countless, but this one may be the biggest and most important. I am here asking for help because Diego is in trouble, he has a very large mass in the abdominal cavity that measures around 20 cm. It has been growing rapidly over the last few months, and I have been watching him change. He eats less, he has no stamina, he is constantly shifting trying to get comfortable, his breathing is heavy, and most recently he does not like to be petted very much. If you know this boy, you know he loves nothing more than being the little spoon, a belly rub, and putting his head on your shoulder.

We have been given good news and bad news.
The bad news....the mass is real, its there and its growing.
The good news.... it doesn't seem to be cancerous, doesn't appear to be attached to his liver, and surgery is recommended. Because of its size it has been recommended to have the procedure at Angell Animal Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA. It is the best place, with the best surgeons who would be able to handle how risky and messy this surgery could be because of its size. The issue is the cost of Angell is far more than what it would be at our vet, and beyond what Diego's insurance will cover. The small amount of savings I have to put towards this has been spent on the inital vet exam, getting xrays, an ultrasound, and the surgical consult.

So I am here asking for help to pay for this surgery, that could give Diego back the happy, healthy, active life he was enjoying just months ago, and hopefully keep him around for a few more years. We are so lucky to be so supported and loved by so many people. We are feeling the love and we are so thankful for all of you.
