One Young World Sponsorship

With this letter I call on your support to help me (Didintle Mohale) attend the One Young World Summit 2019 in London, United Kingdom. I have been selected as a suitable representative of South Africa for the One Young World Summit which takes place from the 22nd to the 25th of October 2019.

One Young World (The world’s biggest and most impactful youth conference) a non-profit organization that gathers together the brightest and innovative young people from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections in order to create positive change in their own respective countries. This is a global forum for young leaders aged from every country and sector. The young delegates hear and are heard by world leaders acting as One Young World Counsellors. Past Counsellors include Justin Trudeau, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Mary Robinson, Bon Geldof, Kofi Annan, Sir Richard Branson, Emma Watson, Professor Muhammad Yunus and Meghan Markle

The selection process for the Summit is quite involved, and I’m very proud to have been invited to participate in the upcoming summit, which was based on my capacity for leadership, an extensive personal application and the strides I have made thus far in order to advance myself professionally.

My name is Didintle. (Final year actuarial student at the University of Pretoria.) Co- founder of the Inspire Foundation which is an NPO based on helping the community and empowering young lives where we possibly can. I am passionate about closing the gap between the privileged and underprivileged by helping young women and children realize their full potential to become the best version of themselves.

Why do I want to attend the summit?

The summit will give me a platform to engage with the world’s brightest minds from over 98 countries around the world. As a young activist and change maker, the summit will help me understand issues affecting the youth globally – allowing me to better understand the world I want to influence through my work. Attending the summit serves as an opportunity to help become a mentor figure and create a good lasting impression in someone’s life. I feel the need to contribute what I am yet to experience and learn from this conference. Upon being given the opportunity to attend this summit I believe that I will return with the means and motivation to make a difference in our community and University. I will be able to impact the lives of young leaders in many ways.

Some of the topics of discussion include global warming, gender -based violence, entrepreneurship and economic policy.

After the summit, I will become a One Young World ambassador. I will be a representative of a growing community of young global leaders and I will also represent South Africa – a country I am so proud to be a part of.

What happens at the summit?

Delegates will debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces. They make commitments to tangible action that they will deliver in the next year. The Summits are groundbreaking events that offer decision-makers a powerful insight into critical global issue and emerging trends affecting younger generations.

What happens after the summit?

After each Summit delegates join the One Young World Ambassador network. Ambassadors work on their own Summit inspired initiatives or lend the power of the network to those already in existence. Of those in employment, many return to their companies and set about creating change from within, energizing their corporate environment.

The cost to attend per delegate is £3,255 (GBP) plus VAT (which translates to R60 000) including accommodation and excluding my airfare. The cost for attending the summit encompasses travel within the host city, accommodation, meals, access to laptops, desktops and mobile devices, venue costs, chaperones and satellite and wireless connectivity.
