My dad was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease more than 8 years ago, just shortly after my mom passed away. We were just starting to mourn and pick up our lives when we found out that my dad's creatinine was 600 plus. Normal creatinine clearance for healthy women is 88-128 mL/min. and 97 to 137 mL/min. in males (normal levels may vary slightly between labs). So it was 6x higher than normal. Due to this finding, we were advised to do dialysis twice a week. It was hard emotionally, another sickness with no cure apparently. He is diabetic, so he takes medicine which have caused his creatinine to zoom up. The doctors believed that his other organs were not taken cared of just his sugar level. Around 2011, he was hospitalized and was so weak and thin. He was then advised to do dialysis 3x. So it was harder for him, I cannot imagine how he can endure it. He had to stop working because he gets tired easily. Because of that budgeting got harder and harder. December 2012, my sister was diagnosed with bone cancer and she passed away March 2013. Another devastating year for us, it was traumatic and financially straining. It was hard for everyone in the family especially for my dad. I was left with all responsibilities at home, cooking, making sure everything is taken cared of, and most especially budgeting. Adjusting to everything then, when we needed another major operation as there were blocked blood vessels and so we did Angioplasty which cost half a million peso. With this, all our savings were depleted. Help were given but it wasn't enough. Up until today, I took the courage to seek help using this. Hoping that we can collect some to go by for his dialysis. Our credit cards are used up to pay for his bills. He was just recently confined twice, and procedures like colonoscopy and endoscopy were done. Initial findings are not pleasing to the eye, but we are still waiting for the biopsy. I pray that people with good hearts will be able to read this and hopefully help in any way. To GOD be the glory.
