Dialysis: financial support

Good Day,

My name is Feroza Sassman and on behalf of my husband I am writing this as a plea for financial assistance.

In July 2019 my husband was diagnosed with Stage 5 kidney failure, after years of battling with the ups and downs of type 1 diabetes, my husband, Basheer has finally reached his lowest point of his health.

At just 28 years old with little kids this was devastating our entire family. He is currently being administrated at Groote Schuur Hospital and unfortunately, we have found out he is currently 8^th in line to receive Dialysis, to help him live a better life. In order for him to move up on the list, someone needs to die, it sounds harsh, but it’s true or someone needs to go private on medical aid, or needs to receive a transplant.

My husband, life partner and best friend has flat-lined on the 1^st September 2019 and this felt like a mountain crumbling, we as a family needed to cope with the realization that he cannot wait any longer to receive dialysis and that this was an urgent crisis. He has not been able to work due to the kidney failure, therefore I have been the sole provider and pillar of our little family, thus far. It is a daunting task to work, see to my husband’s needs, and the needs of my kids, who does not understand the situation and still keep smiling…

I have managed to place him on a medical aid; however, the medical aid will only be able to provide dialysis after 1 year of joining. Something I know most people do not know. Now you do too.
