Greetings to all of you :)
My name is Draginja and since I was two years old, I've been diagnosed with diabetis mellitus (type 1). My whole life I've been struggling to fight with it, not because it hs bothered me to have it (honesty I didn't know for other), but financially.
I come from a small country called Serbia, and here, we are the third world country. Our health insurance is very poor, there are barley any jobs (I have finished my collage and still haven't find a job, and even if you do find the average salary here is 300€) and our health insurance is very poor and bad. The only thing we get here from health insurance is insulin and one box of test stripes for measuring our blood glucose per month. One box has 50 test stripes, which means I get 1,6 stripes per day, with which you can not monitor your blood glucose at all. You need at least 5 stripes per day. And one box costs 20€I have no money to buy another box because I need for everyday food.
Six months ago I have become a mother, which was the best and most beautiful thing ever happened to me.
I am 27 years old, and my doctor said that I shouldn't wait anymore for the baby, because I will probably have none if I do, since I have a lot of problems with my body already because of diabetes. I have developed polyneuropathy since I was 15, and during pregnancy lost the 80% percent of vision on my right eye (the pregnancy was very risky).
I am starying this fundraiser in hope to get a constant blood glucose tracker. It has little sensor which you place on your arm (and has to be chanhed on every 14 days) and it checks your blood qlucose every minute, which will help me to maintain my glucose and hopefully give me chance to live longer. This is the link to the product http://www.dexcom.com/home
The price is $1,198 for the tester and a four-pack of sensors would be $349
I need to maintain for my son.
And for me keeping the blood glucose means being healthy.
