Life Changing Opportunity!
Destination Imagination is an organization that provides STEM challenges integrated with the arts to teach students leadership, patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and collaborative problem solving skills. Every year they impact more than 150,000 students in 30 countries who compete for a coveted place at the Global DI Finals. Two Unity teams entered in the competition this year and BOTH teams won at the regional level!
With a budget of only 200 dollars and no adult guidance, our teams committed over 70 hours of work, use innovative thinking, collaboration and everyday materials (sheets, cardboard boxes, and PVC pipe) to not only solve the challenge THEMSELVES but to place 2nd! Both teams wrote plays, incorporated special effects and focus elements, built stages with the technical capability of moving a cast member from one side to the other and performed their plays for judges in the regional competition.
The kids ROCKED IT and won the opportunity to travel to the University of Tennessee to compete with 1800 teams from around the world! The trip is extremely expensive, and we need YOUR help to get us there. Will you help us represent Unity at this prestigious competition? A video thank you note AND a behind the scenes video tour of how the stages, props and special effects were created. Follow the tour to the exciting conclusion where a special guest --pssst the team manager, Lisa-- gets a face full of whipped-cream pie!
A video thank you note AND a live performance of both team’s original plays. They’ll top it off by letting you experience the excitement of an Instant Challenge. DI teams will give you the opportunity to participate in their own originally created Instant Challenge so YOU can test your wits in a timed race to success. Can you take the heat?
