Desperate Situation After Natural Disaster

I am in an urgent situation and am seeking your assistance. I reside in Louisville, Kentucky, an area recently declared a natural disaster zone by the President of the United States. Unfortunately, despite this official declaration, FEMA has informed us that no funds are available for repairs.

I am an individual on disability, relying on SSDI based on the 28 years of working. After the tragic passing of my wife in an accident, I asked my 80-year-old father, a veteran who served our country, and my 76-year-old mother to move in. We have supported each other and are middle-class Americans.

My immediate concern revolves around the damage to our home, particularly the roof. The roof replacement is necessary due to leaks, causing a hole in the ceiling. I am deeply worried about potential health hazards such as mold and mildew, which could significantly threaten my elderly parents.

Despite diligently seeking assistance from various government agencies, I have been met with the disheartening response that no funds are available. Given the declared natural disaster status, I reached out to Wells Fargo, our mortgage company, explaining the circumstances and inquiring about deferring payments. They initially granted a reprieve of 6 to 8 months. I didn’t know that after this timeframe, they would ask me for the total amount past due. My latest statement revealed an accumulated due amount of $15,899.00 and talked about foreclosure if not paid.

My primary concern extends beyond the fate of our home; it also encompasses the well-being of my elderly parents. My dad is a dedicated veteran at 80 years old, and my mother, who has been his wife and best friend, and companion for 57 years both deserve to live their golden years in peace.

I am reaching out to you not out of a desire for handouts but out of sheer desperation and a lack of viable options. Please consider our situation and extend a helping hand during this critical time.
