My name is Sophia Pierre-Louis and I'm reaching out to you because I have no idea what else to do. My mom, Christie Pierre-Louis, died on January 01, 2011 I was forced out of her apartment due to the fact that I was not on her lease. I was unaware that I could have gone to court and remained in the apartment with my daughter who was one year old at the time. Since then I have slept at friends houses moved out of state, been physically abused and returned back to Brooklyn where I am currently renting a room. I am scared because the building has 45 violations and the landlord has really been negligent and very confrontational with the tenants there because we refuse to live in these conditions (lead paint in the walls, vermin, rodents, fire hazards, electrical hazards, mold, black mold and the list continues). I am afraid the city will condemn the building very soon or one day I will come home and the locks will be changed. It has been very hard trying to save money to move because although I work full time, it's only as a temporary employee at a NYC hospital and I have no benefits. I have been employed here for the past 16 months and whenever I need to take a day off I don't get paid. I do not receive any public assistance or food stamps due to my income. I have to purchase food everyday because the kitchen is inhumane, the refrigerator and stove do not work and I simply don't step foot in the kitchen out of fear. I pay $125 per week for my daughter to attend daycare and I am currently consolidating my student loans trying to rebuild my credit. Since my mothers death I have applied for housing and am currently on the waiting list. I was told that I can apply for a One Shot Deal from HRA to pay for the initial move in costs but in the past 10 months I have yet to find a management company that is willing to accept this form of payment. I have reached to several other agencies none that can help me because I am technically not homeless. I lay awake after my daughter sleeps and I cry because I can’t see an end to this hell. I have no other family in Brooklyn and I can't afford to remove my daughter in her current daycare.  I have been seeking an apartment around Church Avenue and Ocean Avenue most of which cost $1,200 a month. I am seeking help in raising the funds needed to obtaining an apartment because I have currently filed for sole custody of my daughter and I need to show that I am doing the best that I can to provide for her. If I can raise the $4,000 needed I can pay for the move in costs: First month rent, security and the brokers fee. The remaining $400 would be used to purchase furniture (a bed and television) I am a honest hard working single mom who has been through a lot in my life,  I just need a push to obtain an apartment on my own so that I can show my daughter a brighter future. If there is anything you can do to assist me in finding a one bedroom apartment I would be forever grateful.

Again I am doing everything I can as a single parent trying to raise my child but I would just like the opportunity to get assistance in finding an apartment. My credit is ruined due to student loans but I am currently making strides to rebuild it. Please help me if you can in raising the money. I need to relocate immediately. I will never be able to save the amount of money needed to move out.
