Hi! My name is Mario and and this is Derek.
Derek is a 1 and a half year old German Shepherd. He is super energetic pup who loves to play catch. I am looking for help to pay for Derek's Vet Bill and here is why.
Recently we took Derek to get neutered. From the get-go, his procedure wasn't a traditional one. Derek had one testicle that did not drop and was lodged in his intestinal area. This being the case led to his incision being bigger than usual. Procedure was extensive because they could not locate it.
After the surgery he was put on 2 weeks of healing. About a week after the surgery I noticed his groin area was swelling and when I took him to the vet, I was told that it was probably fluid build up. We scheduled an appointment and when it was attempted to be drained nothing came it. The issue was that his abdominal sutures had broken and his intestines had fallen out of place. He was rushed into an emergency surgery to re-open, put everything in place and closed up again.
Once again, Derek was confined to his crate so that we could prevent any future complications.
It has been really hard because the first 2 weeks of the first surgery, he was boarded (which meant I had to drive 30 minutes to and from, before and after work every day) while I was at work to give me piece of mind that if anything happened, he would be taken care of. Something STILL happened.
With the second surgery, I took 2 weeks off of work so that I could make sure he was comfortable and keep an eye on him. Which put me in a bind because it was unpaid time off.
It was really hard to see him go through those 2 surgeries and how sad he was.
On top of that a week after his 2nd surgery, his external sutures broke and he had to get put under to re-stitch the outer sutures.
Your donation will solely go towards Derek's Vet Bill
What made this so expensive was the fact that there were 2 surgeries and the anesthesia it took keep him under. The fact that I took off and the amount of times he has had to visit the vet PLUS the numerous medications he has had to be on, really added up.
His surgery was at the 25th of May, the 2nd Emergency surgery was the 2nd of June and the re-stitch was June 8th. As you can see, he has been through a lot and I will do anything for him. He still has another 2 weeks of recovery but doing better each day!
Any donation would be appreciated! We thank you in advance :)
