Hello and thank you for taking the time to view the details of my fundraiser. I am trying to raise funds to go towards getting my little sisters dentures because they do not have any teeth. My mother, who is single and is working a minimum wage job, cannot really afford them and unfortunately I am only a student who barely scrapes by with what little she has to get her education.

My little sisters, Alexis and Julissa require dentures at the young ages of 9 and 10 because when they were newborns, the girls were born with all of their teeth on the top and the bottom so the doctors told me mother they have to have them removed IMMEDIATELY or they would choke on them, so the decision was made to remove their teeth. The doctors reassured my mother that at a later age the girls would get their teeth back but unfortunately they did not and according to dental x-rays it is as if the teeth don’t even exist, the most teethe my sisters have managed to grow between the two of them have been a couple of molars and canines.

This sad fact of my sisters life has had a tragic impact on them and their health, unlike most individuals who can chew their food and properly extract the nutrients while digesting properly they cannot. Common treats the children enjoy and bring smiles to their faces my sisters cannot have, nor can they enjoy meat products because they cannot chew them. My sisters being so close to the age of puberty can only eat soft foods, even a simple ice cream cone cannot be enjoyed because it causes them so much pain to even try and chew it.

The lack of teeth has also caused them to deal with a horrendous amount of emotional pain from children at school, they are constantly made fun of by both faculty and the student body. Their extended family also makes fun of them and say hurtful things to my mother and try to blame this ordeal on her even though this occurs once in every 1000 births. The girls are getting to the age where they want to make more friends and are starting to become slightly interested in boys but have such a low self-esteem to the cruelty of other people they are afraid to expand on these horizons and try to establish themselves as individuals.

I created this fundraiser as a ray of hope that will shine on their darkened lives, I want my little sisters to smile and explore their personal boundaries, I want my little sisters to be able to eat the foods so many of us enjoy every day and open up their palettes to a whole new world of both tastes and pleasures.

Thank You for taking the time out of your busy day to at least read our story and give us the possible consideration.
