Costa Rica dice presente en IC 2018 Egypt

My name is Andra Enache and I am the MCP 1819 of AIESEC in Costa Rica. My journey in AIESEC started in 2013 after my exchange in Italy and it continued until June 2018, when I took the decision to come to Costa rica to be part of the MC 1718. Almost one year has passed since I am here and I can truly say that this experience changed me in so many ways! All the challenges and the people that I met in the last year made me stronger, more open to the new and with a huge connection the peace and love.

From this love I have for the entity I decided in January to apply as MCP for the term 1819. Now, here I am, almost starting my term and with a lot of responsibility for all the people we have in this organization and those who we impact through our products.

As you might remember one of the main responsibilities of an MCP is to represent the organization the best way possible. One of the most important touch points (if not the most important one) in representing the country and the entity in the global plenary is the International Congress. This year the conference is going to take place in Egypt, which, as you know, it is not really close to Costa Rica.

Since January we are unfortunately in some financial problems, having the impossibility to pay even the salary for the MC for one month and debts towards AIESEC international. We are currently recovering, growing in the past 3 months with 31% compared with last term. Only in the last 3 months we approved 256 young people to go abroad or come to Costa Rica. Even though we ar getting better ad we will be able to pay most of the debts during the conferences, the expenses that IC require from us are quite big and put us in a dangerous situation to not be able to start the next term in the best way.

The costs for the MCP to attend IC are around 2400$, including the transportation, insurance and fee of the conference. Our Fees to AI and Regional Office will be around 5000$.

For the reasons mentioned before I am opening the call to all of you, alumni of AIESEC in Costa Rica, maybe former MCPs, that would like and could support us in any kind of way.

We weren't already able to send the MCP in the MCP summit, and this is why it is even more important to be present during IC and get all the knowledge & contact needs in order to perform the best from the first days of the term 1819. I know the prices are quite high, but for us every single dollar matters, everything would help the MC to be more sustainable and invest in things that can grow the entity, so in the future we will not be in the same situation again.

For me the relationship with alumni is a really important one that, unfortunately, we still don't have in AIESEC in Costa Rica. While I can't change the past,I can build a better future and one of the things that I really want for the next term is to have a better relationship not only between MC and Alumni, but the whole entity. Our membership right now doesn't know much about our alumni and how valuable you are, how much we can learn from each one of you. So be prepared also for different events & initiatives where you are going to be invited. We are already starting to work on the Gala for the next term, because happilly we gonna make 40 years as AIESEC in Costa Rica! Something to be really proud about, right? :)
