Defend the Filipino Farmers

US$1,402.00raised of $5,000.00 goal goal
The world bears witness to the deteriorating human rights situation in the Philippines. The Duterte regime has spent the past four years surveilling, harassing, arresting, and killing peasant farmers, activists, lawyers, and anyone else who advocates for the peoples’ rights to land and justice.
Without farmers, we don't eat, yet peasant farmers are among the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in the Philippines and around the world. 75 percent of the Filipino population lives in rural areas where agriculture is the main source of livelihood, yet 90 percent of peasant farmers don't own the land they till.
Without land, peasant farmers can't feed themselves and their communities. The government has promised genuine agrarian reform but has instead consolidated land and power in the hands of wealthy landowners and corporations. Those who speak out are targeted by the state and risk being arrested and killed on trumped up charges.
KMP has now documented 342 peasants, farmworkers, and fisherfolks killed over the past four years since President Duterte took power in July 2016.
KMP NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT in order to defend farmer and land defender rights, to cover the legal fees of those falsely imprisoned by the government, to support the families of those killed, to continue to fight for land and justice.
STAND IN SOLIDARITY. DONATE.
