On october 28th I delivered pizza to a British writer in Berlin Kreuzberg.
After seeing an EU flag in the flat I mentioned my sympathy for Brexit in a positive and friendly way.
The customer asked why and I said that I think it's a consequent reaction to the German dominated EU policy. It was polite small talk and I didn't think anything more of it.
The next day, I received an E-mail from the Deliveroo office in Berlin with the news that I had been accused by the customer of making racist and nationalist slurs in an aggressive way during the delivery. This is simply not true. My Deliveroo App had already been shut down, so I was not able to continue my job.
I replied to this mail with my truthful version of the incident, making sure to be open minded and free of ressentiments like xenophobia and racism.
In his reply, the Deliveroo manager wrote that I should have been silent about any kind of flag or the like that I saw and ended my cooperation with the company.
For this minor incident I have been accused on twitter of being a "Nazi" – whic is understandably a nasty slur in Germany - and am now in a precarious economical situation. I don't have any savings and am currently paying double rent, since my ex-girlfriend moved out some weeks ago.
The Deliveroo management has shown no interest in my situation or hearing my sory and has ignored my request for a personal meeting. They also showed no interest in defending me from the absurd accusation of being a Nazi, which is personally upsetting and based merely upon my short positive words about Brexit.
I have now set up this crowdfunding page, because I desperately need support to pay my bills. Otherwise I risk losing my flat.
