Debate-or how I’ve learned to knock’em down with ideas!

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

This summer,a Romanian team composed of some of the best debaters in the country will try it's luck at one of the best international competitions for highschool student-Heart of Europe.But..why debate?

The individual skills learned through debate have a broader impact on society as well. Debate can help fledgling democracies heal from the wounds inflicted by oppressive dictatorships and ethnic violence by providing a forum where these volatile issues can be openly discussed. Newly enfranchised citizens engaged in such debates learn first-hand how democracy works. Additionally, because it teaches the principles of tolerance, nonviolence and respect for different points of view, debate can close the gap between minority and majority cultures, and other groups divided by long-standing animosities.


...SO WHAT?


So we want to make a documentary describing how a bunch of teenagers face the challenges that rise along the way-we want to send a clear message-sometimes,fighting and shouting do noy solve anything,sometimes you must analyse arguments,ideas and principles,sometimes you should think deeper-sometimes you should debate!


This film will show the team on it's "road to glory" and also it will analyse it's performance at the competitions and see if the work was enough,if the skill were sufficient and if the kids were motivated enough!

Debate movies are rare.Debate docuementaries are even more rare...But it is the time that we show we care about arguments even more than we care for the usual TV fight,violence and stupidity-the time of ideas has come,and we ask you to help us making this time the time of our lives !
