Daycare Volunteer South Africa

I will be raising money so I can volunteer at a South African daycare centre for underpriveleged children, as part of my childhood studies degree course. The volunteering organisation that I will be going with is Plan My Gap Year. This organisation supports a range of day-care centres that provide essential childcare facilities to impoverished families of nearby communities. The majority of these children come from the Townships and other underdeveloped communities where social and health problems such as gang violence, drugs, malnutrition and HIV/Aids are rife.

Their common goal is to help provide the children with their basic right to develop emotionally, socially and physically.  The money that I hope to raise will help me to cover my expenses while volunteering in South Africa and provide essential asistance to the local staff. I will be placed at a daycare centre for babies and toddlers and my role will vary from assisting permanent staff in daily tasks, feeding the children, creating learning aids and general supervision. I will also have the opportunity to carry out some teaching such as reading, writing, basic maths and arts & crafts.
