Davao City’s Kids of Hope

The Kids of Hope are the children who stay at House of Hope (HoH) and the Children’s Cancer and Blood Diseases Unit at Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City. I’ve started supporting them in 2014, and every year I go pay them a visit; once I have conducted a painting class for them and the kids really had so much fun. The only year I haven’t visited them was last year because I was pregnant and I was in the process of migrating from Manila to the UK.

Childhood Cancer is curable but treatments could take months or even years. Unfortunately, these children in Mindanao lack access to HealthCare Institutions that can provide multispecialty care. Hence, finding cures and providing holistic, multidisciplinary care for them continue to be a tremendous challenge. When I go back to the Philippines soon, I would love to be able to give support for their diagnostic tests, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and physical rehabilitation.
