Data and a Future for the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy Students

HELP US CARRY ON TEACHING, OUR STUDENTS WANT TO LEARN!

Our work in training 25 local youth in the field of hospitality is challenging! Since Covid 19 and the worldwide pandemic hit South Africa, we have been in lockdown for 50 days. Our brand new classroom is READY, our training kitchen has been installed, but our doors remain CLOSED!

We have access to Lobster Ink, a world class Hospitality training platform, yet most of our students cannot study online at home. They live in a township, in shacks with no running water and no access to WiFi, nor can they afford to buy data. They have lost their weekend jobs; their parents are unemployed.

The hospitality industry is taking its BIGGEST hit ever.

It costs us R10,000 per month to supply our motivated and eager students with data to be able to study through our online learning platform at home and another R20,000 a month in teacher salaries, as well a R8,500 per month for the Lobster Ink Online training platform. Our aim is to cover the whole online learning curriculum during lockdown and focus on practical skills in smaller groups once we are able to do so.

The Franschhoek Hospitality Academy & Learning Centre is a Charitable Trust registered at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in South Africa as well as a PBO: 930057649.

Our vision is to provide an "almost free" Hospitality Training, Soft Skills & Leadership Development to the disadvantaged Youth, situated within the Cape Winelands surrounding communities, who have no access or financial means to further their education after high school.
