On Wednesday, March 27th, my wife Danielle suffered a cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture. She was immediately taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals where she underwent neurosurgery to relieve pressure on her brain. In second surgery, the artery that fed blood to the AVM was successfully stopped and Danielle has since minimally responded to commands to move her feet and hands and eyes. It will be a lengthy recovery process, but we are very optimistic that Danielle’s condition will continue to improve. We will update as we can, and appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and support.”

Since then Danielle has made an amazing transformation into a strong, determined woman who is fighting every second of every day to recover from this terrible injury. As I write this now I am still in tears because today she told me she loved me, which are the first words I’ve heard her speak in 7 days.

We aren’t out of the woods yet, she still needs one more surgical procedure to remove the AVM, followed by months of physical therapy to get her back to how she was before all of this. It will be a long, difficult, and expensive road, but there is no doubt in my mind that she’ll make it and we’ll both come out stronger because of it.

A lot of people have come forward offering support in many ways and asked how they could help, so I set up this Page for those who would like to help in this way.

I’d like to express my warmest, most heartfelt thank you for all who have helped us in any way. We would not be as far along at we are now without all your thoughts, prayers, words, and support.
