It all started by seeing a few cats around my apartment building. They looked hungry and cold... the mummy cat had just had about 5 kittens... there were also a few others around too...the eyes of the new kittens were sticky and some looked like they didn't have eyes.. I felt sorry for them but I didn't know who they belonged too... So I started to buy cat food and feed them.. they are all feral so until now I have only managed to touch the ginger blind one which I have just found out she's a girl, so without neutering her she would have ended up pregnant very soon... over the last year I have seen lots of cats coming to be fed but always at a distance... so after contacting a few people to help... Luanne from Fishing for Felines by the Mediterranean came to my aid... we started yesterday but in the pouring rain we only managed to catch one... this beautiful black and white boy had been in an accident a few days before and has had to have his leg amputated... still waiting to see if he'll pull through tonight.... it had started to go septic and lucky we caught him hopefully in time.... Today 16th February the rain had stopped and I had decided to not feed them last night as it was so wet and I needed them to be a little hungry so they would be looking for me today... happy to say they did 😊... We caught 10 of them... 5 boys and 5 girl's... one looked pregnant but we won't know until tomorrow... still looking for another ginger one with one eye.. and a few others we still need to catch... I'm trying to make difference as so many people do for our beautiful Cyprus cats but as always this all comes with costs... I know so many are really struggling to get through these crazy and sad times from Covid-19 and in Paphos we rely so heavily on tourism that a lot of our finances are stretched at this time...I have already run up a bill today of 650€ just to deworm, spay, neuter and to operate on one cat to amputate his leg... and we still have more to catch 😔
