PLEASE HELP! My father and mother in law moved into their "dream home" about 15 years ago with plans to renovate it, work for a few more years and then retire. Everything was fine for the first year until winter hit. And it hit bad. the entire house was riddled with damp on the walls, ceilings, wood and rusted alot of metal it destroyed there belongings and pretty much everything else.  They were devastated. My mother in law has worked 5 nights a week for the last 20 years at a care home, and my father in law was a lorry driver. over the years they managed to save enough to buy a house and renovate it into their dream home.  The damp was never that bad before, it came up around skirtings in a couple of rooms, but nothing major. Then it progressed every year. And every few years they would try another "solution" and pay big for a job that would only last ANOTHER few years. In 2007 the winter was harsh, the damp was so bad it broke the boiler 2 days before christmas!. They couldn't get someone out to fix it and so  the damp grew vastly, it was on everything! within 2 weeks everything was COVERED in damp mould and was soaking wet!  My father in law was under a lot of stress, at his age trying to maintain it and work at the same time. and unfortunatly suffered from a heart attack and had to undergoe a triple heart bypass. He recovered but couldn't work or maintain the property anymore. Then in 2008 some luck! FINALLY someone had a solution, apparantly the problem had been misdiagnosed (they had heard that before) and that it was an extreme case of rising damp. (apparantly the builders who added the extension didn't USE DPC) And so they put the last of their money into this one last attempt, and it worked! The house dried out that summer and since hasn't had any damp.  The problem is that now they have no money left. And my mother in law is either working or caring for my father in law, me and my partner both work, but we help out as much as we can. But now i want to make a difference.  Together with your help i want to give them the kitchen they have deserved!   Total cost £1400 Kitchen doors and hinges £500-550 (depending on sale), 5m of kickboard £60, 4m counter top £250, sink and tap £100, Skiriting £15, Laminate £95, Underlay £15, Wall paint £28, tiles £36, tile grout £15, gas cooker £140, gloss paint for cupboards £45, oven £125, handles £16 and the rest is for small bits like silicone, screws ect.   THANK YOU for reading my cause i hope you can help me transform this couples lifes!.
