Since the day we rescued Dalma, she has given us so much love and support throughout the years. The moment we saw her we knew she was meant to come home with us, and she has been part of our family since she was just 8 weeks old. I can't imagine how our lives would be without Dalma. Now it's time for us to try and do everything we can to help her fight this horrible disease.

Sadly Dalma has started losing weight and showing neurological symptoms in May 2020, and was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) in early June. FIP is one of the worst diseases a cat can ever get, since it's almost always fatal. Our vet told us there's nothing we can do, so we should put her to sleep.

The bare thought of losing her made our hearts ache so much I can't even describe, so we started to research, see if we could find something, and we did. Not long ago, a very promising experimental drug was found to successfully cure cats from FIP. There have been many survivors who beat this cruel disease, so naturally we decided we'd give it a shot!

We started treatment in the middle of June and Dalma has been improving so much! However this experimental drug is unbelievably expensive and we are unable to cover the whole treatment by ourselves.

We are so happy that she has been getting better, able to run around and jump again, but we are scared that we can't finish the treatment. She means a lot to us, and we would do anything to help her. We didn't give up on her, when we were told to put her to sleep, and won't ever give up until there is a slight chance that she may recover fully.

This treatment is the glimmer of hope we had been wishing for. Please, if you can spare a little bit at all or tell someone about her, help us save Dalma. We will be forever grateful for any bit of help, it would mean the world to us.

FIP update: Dalma has gained more weight, now she's 2,890 grams and her appetite is great! Her total protein level is back to normal (73.6) from 110.5 g/l, Albumins are (30.9) from 19.5 g/l and her A/G ratio increased to (0.7) from previous 0.2 which was extremely low. This is. . . . .

Dalma is getting so much better!

Update posted by Viktoria Littasi at 04:26 am

Before and after starting treatment: Dalma has gained 0.5 kgs back of her 1.1 kg weight loss so far. Now she's 2.7 kgs. She was so weak at the end of May that she could barely stand up and refused to eat anything on her own. We started feeding her. . . . .
