Help Dakota walk again

I am here today with a heavy heart, asking for your help. My 4 legged child, Dakota needs help.

Dakota is a Dachshund. She is turning 3 in February 2022. She is courageous and has an energetic personality. She loves nothing more that running around a million miles an hour up and down with her dachshund friends.

On Monday morning, October 4th 2021 our dogs were busy playing in the lounge as they normally do. It was then that Dakota lost all mobility and functions in her whole hind body. She was immediately rushed to Bergbos Animal Clinic in Rustenburg, NW.

The vet told us that her spinal disc has ripped and in her case it is very severe. She is completely paralyzed in her whole hind body with no control over her bladder and other related bodily functions.

She will have to go to a specialist and get surgery. With the surgery she will maybe be able to walk again and regain her bodily function. The surgery wil cost R43 000. Dakota is on medical aid but the are only able to cover around 1/4 of the cost AFTER the surgery. The visit to the Vet alone costed R1000. They need the payment upfront before they are willing to help her.

I had been living on saving. I had setup my own business to try and establish an income stream. A R43 000 surgery for Dakota is something I could not forsee. Putting her down is not an option, she is not just a dog. She is my child.

Watching her go from a happy bundle of energy to a paralyzed sad girl is heart wrenching for me. She is scared and confused and doesn't understand why she can't walk anymore. Please help Dakota run again, help her to be able to play with her friends again.
