Hi everyone,

In February 2019 my parents were involved in a car accident. They were no substantial injuries other than a few bruises and knocks. Both my parents felt fine and recovered well. The doctor wanted to check on both my parents 1 week after the accident to make sure everything was okay.

Upon checking my dads oxygen levels it was noted that it was lower than what it should be. The doctor booked my dad a hospital appointment for an XRAY to check everything over. My dad insisted that he felt fine and didn't want to go but my mum persuaded him.

My dad went to get his x-ray took and the results were notified 6 weeks later. My dad went to the hospital to get his results and he was told he needed a heart operation. It was found that his airpipes were narrowing and getting tighter which makes oxygen passing through the body more difficult, and this can lead to potential strokes or heart attacks.

My dad was devastated with this news and seeing him so upset broke my heart.

My dad works as a painter and decorator by himself as a sole trader. He has worked this job all his life and is the only thing he knows how to do. It is a very physical and demanding job and with someone who is 59 with a heart condition it is hard going.

However, this way of work is proving to be difficult. My dads heart valve replacement operation is due to take place next month. After this operation he won't be able to work for 3 months. We have looked into sick pay for sole traders and the money the government can fund you is significantly lower compared to someone who isn't self employed.

My mum has been a carer most of her life. She looked after my gran when my gran got old and frail and was unable to perform simple tasks anymore such as getting dressed, washing herself or going to toilet. Recently my gran has been moved to a carehome as this was getting too strenuous for my mother to continue doing.

My mum has found it hard since my grans been moved into a carehome. She feels really guilty about doing this and spends a large part of her time visiting my gran now. She plans on looking for employment, but visiting my gran takes up a large part of her day and I am very worried about her mental health right now.

I myself am currently a university masters student studying for his thesis. I have a part time job just now but I don't work enough hours to be able to significantly contribute to family costs. I wish I could work more hours but I need to allocate time for university work which takes up a large part of my time.

I am appealing for funds to help stabilise this family during my dads heart valve operation and recovery. I feel embarrassed about asking for help, but we simply need it. My sister recently got married too and my parents spent so much money on the wedding, more than they simply could afford.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time,

Also my PayPal isn't getting liked for some reason. It's [email protected]
