Cycling Matters Safety Guide

As Cycling Matters approaches its second year anniversary on October 1, 2020, we are continuing our mission of pushing for positive change through accessible, educational, and insightful cycling content in the Philippines.

Cycling is rapidly gaining relevance in our society as a viable means of transportation and we have an opportunity to take concrete actions in helping Filipinos travel safely in both urban and rural areas across the country by bike. Everyone can be an important part of the growing cycling community.

The Cycling Matters Safety Guide is a free and accessible handbook for cyclists of all levels. Currently, it consists of 20 pages and comes in three languages: Cebuano, Tagalog, and English. The Safety Guide has also been officially endorsed and adopted by the Department of Health as a part of their Local Health System Playbook on Active Transport.

While the Safety Guide can be accessed online and printed at home by individuals, we need your help so we can make it more accessible to the vast number of cyclists who are now on the road due to the pandemic. Most of them do not have open access data or fixed internet connections at home.

Production

The Safety Guide will be printed as a booklet with a page size of A5 (A4 spread), saddle-stitched. C2S #80 will be used for the cover pages while Book #70 will be used for the inner pages. As per our price canvassing, we have decided to work with Art Angel Printshop Commercial Quests Inc. for production. This project is non-profit; costs will cover print production and delivery to physical distribution points which include bike shops, active lifestyle stores, local government units, and other business establishments with high cyclist foot traffic.

Transparency

Cycling Matters will provide a report that will include the following:

• Actual number of copies printed from all donations via GoGetFunding
• Actual number of copies printed from direct sponsorships
• Location and quantities distributed to physical distribution points
• All costs involved in the production and delivery of the Safety Guide
