Gunotsoga is a small village located in the eastern panhandle of the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The region is known for its richness in wildlife, but also a great cultural diversity can be found here. The Hambukushu, Bayeyi and Basarwa (San) tribes share a common and intertwined history in this region and have mutually influenced their cultures. To teach children about the culture of their families and preserve a cultural space for the community, the local primary school of Gunotsoga has started to construct a cultural house. The roof of the house is made up of traditional and sustainable materials such as reeds from the Okavango Delta.

Now, the school board is looking for donations to finish the house so they can open it with the community at the end of this year. The structure and the roof of the house are already in place, but there is no money to paint the house with traditional patterns. High quality paint is to be used so that the paint can withstand the rainy seasons. Other costs are related to the labor hours of the painter.

Until now, there is no museum nor any public cultural place in the village, so the cultural house would contribute to the cultural memory and appreciation in Gunotsoga.

On behalf of the school management I'm collecting donations. Every little contribution is welcome!
