My name is Michelle (steele) Ledezma. I am 28 yrs old and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in April of 2012. My battle with this disease is far from easy. I had to quit my job of 6 yrs. as a nurse because I just couldn't keep up with doing all the necessary parts of my job while juggling the new changes to my body as well as medication side effects.

I currently have insurance but the deductible is very high, so they will not cover any costs of the medications I need until the $6500.00 deductible is met. I am currently trying to obtain disability but it will not kick in until next year if I qualify. I do not qualify for state or government help either. So I am stuck!

Everyone that knows me can tell you that I was a hard worker who was willing to help anyone in anyway that I could. But with the everyday body aches and pains and medication side effects I am barely able to do things that were once very easy for me. Every task is grueling and it is frustrating to me.

Yes I cry and feel useless sometimes, but then I remember all that I am blessed with. I am lucky to have such a supporting husband and son to help me out all the time. And most of all I am lucky to have friends and family that care about me and help cheer me up.

There is no cure for my disease and its only going to get worse if I can no longer take my medications...I have already stopped one of them due to a cost of $1200 a month just for that one medicine. And I am already feeling worse. Any help from anyone is appreciated more than you know!! As soon as the deductible is met, insurance will cover all my meds at 100%
