CRKVA RiBORN

This is not about any one individual, but a whole collective - a community of young people seeking to spread love and positivity, to promote creativity and the world’s top-notch electronic music, as well as create unforgettable memories.

The Club Crkva is a venue for electronic music lovers and the only such club in Rijeka, a culturally-rich city and the first Croatian city to bear the title of European Capital of Culture 2020. It is situated in an industrial street near the Rječina river, which leads to the old paper factory Hartera.

With quite a turnout on each occasion, in 2018, the club received recognition by Ambasador as the best club in Croatia, which testifies to the value a club like this brings to the people.

It is a community of open-minded people to whom this club is no ordinary place, but a temple of music. Crkva is dedicated to electronic music culture in all its varieties of motion, shape, and sound. Crkva represents art and creation, present and future, revolution, and evolution. Crkva is peace, love, unity, and respect.

It is a place of tolerance and love where no one is judged by their appearance, religion, culture, gender, or race. Through its work, Crkva has been trying from the very beginning to reconnect people through music, dancing, and spreading positive energy that leaves hardly anyone indifferent. None of this would have been possible if it weren’t for one young DJ who 7 years ago decided to transform his dreams and visions into concrete actions. Although the realization of the project took much time, effort, money, and patience, this story had a happy ending as well, as all the effort and time invested was the least that could have been done to make this dream of reconnecting through love and positivity come true.

The new global Covid-19 pandemic and the various restrictions that came along with it impeded its work and therefore turned this beautiful dream into harsh reality. The club closed down in March 2020, having opened its doors for a short while in September and October, while the running costs of rent and utilities continued to accumulate.

The intention here is to invest the funds into the rent and maintenance costs of the club until we can open our doors again and self-sustain ourselves.

We aim to save this club in which many established DJs started their career, as well as to keep alive the place that positively influences the development of the local DJ scene in which many young people could have the chance of succeeding and many electronic music lovers a chance of enjoying it.

The place that gave us so much - those magical nights and early mornings filled with dance and music bringing people together - is now at risk of being permanently closed. For this reason, we permit ourselves to ask for financial support, without which this story could come to an end. The moment came in which we must show solidarity and unity of our community so we could help out the man without whom none of the aforementioned would have been possible. In reality, he is not looking for help, but we are unconditionally willing to offer it. We are well aware of the difficult situation we are all in, but every contribution, no matter how big or small, will bring us closer to our goal. Knowing we are surrounded by good people will also give us hope for a better tomorrow.

We are hoping this initiative will inspire others with similar financial difficulties to pluck up the courage and ask for help and to let them know they are not alone. That is the reason why you deserve a big thank you!
