Creative Panoramic Photography

The goal of this project is to purchase a GigaPan EPIC Pro for my DSLR camera. Using
this device will allow me to take magnificent high definition panoramic
photographic images. I will present these specialized photographs and digital
images by sale to select museums, educational facilities and the general
public.

This quote from the vendors website sums it up nicely... "Gigapixel digital
images have billions of pixels. They are huge panoramas with fascinating
detail, all captured in the context of a single brilliant photo. Phenomenally
large, yet remarkably crisp and vivid." The photographic technique this device
helps create can be used to create gigapixel-sized digital photographs that can
be viewed on a PC and projected on a screen. The end result is that this kind
of imagery has extremely high resolution and that means there is tremendous
detail which gives even the printed versions a smooth, not grainy, look.

For instance, a geology professor could show a gigapixel image of the cutaway
on a highway to their class and zoom in to explain the geology. They could even
digitally view rock formations on a mountaintop, which is a lot easier than
getting the class up there. A museum could take these photographs and display
large panoramas of mountain ranges, city scapes and more either as a printed
image or via electronic media, which would allow a viewer to zoom in to see the
incredible detail not seen by the naked eye.

This technology can also be used to take macro images in great detail. If you
take a conventional photograph of a butterfly, you end up with a beautiful
photo of a butterfly. With gigapixel technology, if you take a photograph of a
butterfly, you end up with a photograph of a butterfly that is a combination of
several hundred photos stitched together to show exquisite, close-up detail of
all parts of the wing and body.

The end result of this will be set after set of magnificent images to share
with everyone.
