The Factory opened it's doors on 16th April 2016, after almost 2 years of constant self-funded renovation work. We are a non-profit making community center, showcasing Asean and Western culture, through words, music, dance, art and cinema. We also act as an after school youth club and offer a safe place for local children to hang out and be creative, play music, draw, do homework and practice English. We also prepare subsidized, good quality food and have run offers of free food for the local community.
We also provide support to young artists and musicians and encourage them to exhibit their artwork and play music together, in an English speaking environment. On the ground floor, we have a small, partially equipped stage, with musical instruments that are free to use. We have a school-based battle of the bands project coming soon !
Upstairs there is a gallery, dance / exercise space and also music recording facilities.
We are generating a lot of interest from international artists and wish to be bring many types of art and cultural entertainment to our beautiful city. We have requests from artists and musicians from the the UK, Brazil, America, India, Canada, China, Singapore and New Zealand to perform over the coming months.
We are looking for funding to repair our damaged roof, replace 2 broken/missing windows upstairs, renovate/plumb the upstairs bathroom, repair the floor in our dance space and purchase a bass guitar and 2 stage microphones.
Thank you for reading and any help from anywhere in the world is greatly appreciated.
The Factory.
