Hi. My name is June Knight.
I am the owner/founder of Aunty.co. I am classified as disabled as I have suffered strokes and severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It does not respond to treatment, and I just have to live with it, manage it and live as full a life as possible each day.  I cannot work or be in a normal working environment.  It would not be possible or appropriate for me. It not be possible or fair to an employer. I have to work round my disabilities and problems in my own way and own time.

However, I am bright, intelligent and enjoy being active and spent a life making a difference and being an influence for the better, and I hope to continues to do so.

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE DISABLED DOES NOT MEAN YOU STOP!

Aunty.co is a Limited Liability Partnership I set up with a fellow disabled  Adam Lotun, who is a  well known Disability Rights Spokesperson in the UK and Workplace Disability Adjustments Consultant. He is a husband and a father, he has a beautiful wife and 3rd old twin girls and a grown up daughter. He has always aimed to be independent and provide for himself and his family the same as any other man or father.

I too have always aimed to be independent, it is part of self dignity and pride. The last few years have held me back and in some ways totally devastated me. But I have every intention and hope to change that.  We are both intelligent, skilled and active but cannot work in the normal way.

Aunty.co has been set up to seek and create opportunities and ventures for those who are employment and revenue challenged. This is people such as disabled and combat vets. Or others who are employment and reveue challenged such as  carers and mums and single parents with young children.  Many are revenue challenged and cannot have an opportunity in the present climate and due to their disabilities and responsibilitie and social disadvantages for getting free and independent, and getting out of the poverty trap. Aunty.co see that there are ways forward, but we are going to have to think differently.

One way,  is based round the IT industry, as many IT abilities and skills are things that many people can learn and work in a flexible way around their disabilities and responsibilities. I started in 2011 by building a website to support disabled during this global economic time of austerity. I felt very vulnerable and shy at the time, so signed myself off as Aunty Admin. A warm but formal signing off.  The Aunty stuck and was adopted by many of my members and followers. I then saw and realised the opportunities for disabled and others to work on line, around their disabilities and responsibilities. Online workers can work flexibly and remotely. They do not have to go to an office or try and fit in to a work environment. They can work at home, flexibly and in their own time.

Therefore,  I bought the domain name Aunty.co, built the directory and also registered Aunty.co as a Limited Liability Partnership with Adam. And also registered our logo.  There are many possibilities,  But to facilitate this I have  built an online Directory called Aunty.co which works as an online board for people, businesses and community groups, but also works as a magazine and exciting, interactive lively community market place. With so much potential coming from this. There are over 17 million disabled in the UK. With a spending revenue of over £80Billion. There is even more potential when you add ex combat vets, carers and young mums and single parents who would so love to be able to earn and spend more, on themselvs or on their families.  Therefore, the other is developing an entrepreneurial network and syndicate among these.  We aim to find opportunities and develop options for  who find accessing the normal business, social, financial environment still problematic and exclusive. Please help  It needs funding to make sure it can be supported and maintained in the first few months of being up and active. We have the backing and skills among our own community. It just needs the funds to do it,  Unfortunately, disabled still live in a world where banks and financial investors will not invest in "disabled" or "disabled businesses" or ventures. The disabled are discriminated twice over. We have been awarded a £2000 Voucher for Planning and Looking for Alternative Finance and Strategy. We will be matching this with our own £2000. We are looking for initial funding to help support and sustain the first few months of our project.  We believe it will generate its own income and attract its own growth potential after that.  We would be very grateful for your help and support   PEOPLE WE INTEND TO HELP: DISABLED, COMBAT VETS, YOUNG MUMS, CARERS AND MENTALLY HEALTH SUFFERERS. Working together by Innovation and Networking and in Association with Partners in the Wider community and Business.

Sincerely Looking For Your Support

Regards June Knight & Adam lotun
