HELP GIVE VISION TO THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED, PLEASE!

VISION-1, A Concept Device to Help Restore Visual Perception for those with Visual Impairments -Proposed by the BIONIC VISION GROUP.

The documented Cost Of Living associated with visual impairments, varying from some lack of vision to complete blindness can be significant enough to justify a solution be developed.

There is evidence hinting that what we 'see' is in essence nothing other than what we 'Visually Perceive-the brains reaction to optic nerves stimulated by the environment'. The sense of sight has been described ultimately as a unique culmination of brain signals. The appropriate stimulation for an individual, focused at the Occipital Lobe and in particular the Visual Cortex has indicated the capability of triggering a perception ('seeing'-thought process) as a response to unique magnetic fields. The process largely makes use of a phenomenon known as Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS).

The Bionic Vision Group is currently developing the device mentioned with the intent of providing a feasible solution to help alleviate problems associated with Visual Impairments. This restoring ability is made possible using unique stimulus(TMS) patterns to trigger the brain into perceiving a unique visual cue. Through the training of this process, aspects of the environment can be described to the neurons with unique magnetic signatures, creating the ability for an individual to 'Visually Perceive' their surroundings. The work conducted by the Bionic Vision Group is in conjunction with Research and Development from Stellenbosch University and Innovation4life.

With Financial Assistance, The Bionic Vision Group aims to help provide a financially viable answer for those living with visual impairments, capable of reaching African and South African Individuals. The Donations will be used to cover expenses incurred for the continuation of the Project, this includes helping to pay for costs associated with; Development, Operational Resources,Ethics, Fees associated with furthering Research.
