Hi, my name is Kristie.  My family and I are opening a small healthy coffee shop in Harrisburg, Pa. called Crave and Co. that will offer vegetarian food. 

About 10 years ago, I decided that I wanted to open a coffee shop with healthy food so I searched around and around and finally bought a building in Harrisburg, Pa. It had been a barber shop and needed to be completely remodeled. So I did a lot of work on the building and then had work done on the building and then got married and had kids and rented the building out and put the idea on hold for almost 10 years.

So I had some time to think more about the concept of the coffee shop over the years and what I really became aware of, especially as a mom, is that there are very few fast food restaurants that actually offer healthy food.

As a mom,  I have been in the position of suddenly having to be somewhere immediately and having kids that are all hungry at that moment.  Call it bad planning but it happens to many of us and you end up in one of the fast food restaurants that make you cringe at the thought of how bad the food really is for you and even worse for your kids.  So the idea behind Crave and Co. is to bring the healthy back by specializing in organic coffee and healthy quick organic food in a cool atmosphere.

What you will find in Crave and Co. is that we use the best fresh ingredients available. At all times possible, we use organic ingredients and we will never sell foods made with harmful chemicals. Our menu is vegetarian but not the kind of vegetarian that makes you think you would rather eat a cardboard sandwich. It's good. It satiates. It brings the healthy back and it will bring you back because you crave it.

Our soft opening will be on June 16, 2014. Please help us on our mission to bring the healthy back to Harrisburg, Pa by helping us with funding to get up and running and then by joining us at Crave and Co. beginning June 16, 2014!

We use as many organic ingredients as possible for all items.  We also have gluten free options for breads and will happily make a sandwich vegan for you by not adding egg or cheese.

 

Some of our Sandwiches:

1) Israeli sandwich: roasted eggplant, hard boiled egg, Israeli salad (chopped cucumber, tomato, garlic, olive oil and lemon) with homemade hummus and extra tahini drizzled with a mango sauce in a warmed pita bread.

2) Baked black bean and quinoa burger with cheddar cheese, tomato and lettuce in pita bread.

3) Curried egg salad with tomato and arugula in pita bread.

4) 4 cheese panini- fresh mozarella, fontina, Gorgonzola, and provolone on ciabatta with arugula.

5) Almond Butter and fresh blueberry sandwich.
