Craig para-triathlon

A teenager born with his feet bent backwards is aiming to take on the world at the Gold Coast World championships 2018 open paratriathlon. Craig McNeil hopes to compete in the paratriathlon The 15-year-old will have to swim 750m, cycle 20km and run 5km in his quest for a medal. He has competed in rotterdam at the world paratriathlon championships finishing 4th and silver medal coming 3rd to the world champion in the world championships Craig was born with talipes, a deformity of the feet, and had the first of four corrective operations when he was just six months old. His left foot is two sizes bigger than the right, he has no achilles tendons, minimal calf muscles and walks on the side of his left foot. Proud mum said: “At six months old Craig had his first operation and ended up with both legs in plaster. “His feet get very sore and he gets pain in his hips and his ankles are fixed and have no flexibility. “He is great at swimming but because of his condition finds cycling and running hard but he just gets on with it. “He is so determined and motivated and has never seen himself as different. “He is so geared up for making it to Rio, he talks about it a lot – it is his dream.” Craig trains with Warrington triathlon club and at Sale Leisure Centre with Trafford metro swimming club. Craig says, “My disability has never held me back and I swam with able-bodied children until I was classified a few years ago. “It would be wonderful to make it to the Paralympics and make all the 5.30am starts three mornings a week worthwhile.” I am looking for sponsors to help in my quest to get to gold coast as I need a special wet suits, & other specialist triathlon equipment costing around £3,000.to
