Covid19 Preparation SA

I'm starting this fundraising ambit on behalf of Gladys, a lady I met who lives(and hopes to open a soup kitchen)in a rural area. It has been brought to my attention that in certain impoverished areas in SA, children are forced to rely on meals at school as their primary source of food. Since a state of emergency has been declared, schools will be closed until further notice. This means these children will not have access to basic nutrition, and it seems likely that if Corona spreads out of control, these children will be the ones at the highest risk.

The plan is somewhat informal at the moment, I hope to collect funds and send them to her as they become available, so she can stock up on basic supplies. We don't know if and when the virus will spread to the vast townships of SA, but it will be a disaster when it does. It seems logical that the best course of action is to try ensure that people have strong immune systems so they might combat the virus, as prevention is most likely futile.

I'm keeping the goal amount relatively low for the moment, as I know no one is doing too well now financially, but spare a thought for those who have almost nothing. Most of us will struggle, but pull through this crisis, but we must do whatever we can to help those in the community who are most vulnerable. Any small amount will make a difference
