COVID & Cigarettes

COVID 19 was not gentle on the economy, and the artistic community is among those that have suffered the most.

With theatres closed, actors, playwrights and directors not only didn’t have a place of work, but also struggled to have their voice heard. Their art could not be watched, and nothing that gives life to an artist could happen over the last few months.

Aurora Theatre has been incredibly impacted this year, financially and artistically, but thanks to the world we live in we have been able to use the tools available and do something different. This year also marks Aurora Theatre’s ten-year anniversary- therefore, we needed to do something special.

We thought about a community project that could gather some of those artists affected and put together a project that could be accessible worldwide, as well as something that could give relief to the artists involved who donated their own time and resources to this project.

COVID & CIGARETTES presents a collection of stories of different people experiencing the various facets of COVID 19, from smoking cigarettes to cure the virus, to stressed out parents coping with restless children, and challenged lovers learning to adapt to the new normal, C&C gathers a variety of situations and people, all joined together by the same guilty pleasure: the cigarette.
