-Who are we?
Thanks for clicking into this page! We're from the"animal welfare club" in EF academy, which is an international high school located in Thornwood, New York. Our club members include teenagers from 11 countries and we've been working on animal found-raising events.
-A shocked fact:
I believe everyone knows about the spreading virus- COVID-19, but do you know it also affects animals? Not only the animals that are tested positive are being affected but also the animals in zoos and wildlifes. As people are avoiding to visit crowded public places, zoos and aquariums are forced to shut down. However, the animals still need to be fed and cared for by staff and these all cost money. As you can see, closing causes huge financial pressure. Additionally, the wildlifes are also suffering, since the costs of organizations to rescue them increase and some supplies have become scarce. As a result, many animals are STARVING, and THEY NEED HELP.
-Still confused? Let's take a look at these surprisingly significant numbers.
Dakota zoo, a zoo in Bismarck, listed down their spending on providing animal food on their website.
- An adult moose consumes over $4000 worth of food.
- A tiger eats as much as 10 pounds of specially mixed ground beef every day. That’s a $3333 yearly dinner tab for a tiger.
- Monkeys eat primarily Monkey Chow, with a smattering of fruits and vegetables thrown in for variety. This special diet costs up to $350 per monkey, per year.
- Tarantulas, scorpions, snakes and lizards prefer to nosh on live farm raised crickets. We go through about $750 worth of the little critters each year.
-The worst situation
Moreover, if the situation does not improve, the zoos might have to euthanize some animals and even use their remains to feed large carnivorous animals.A zoo in Germany already told the media that"If it comes to it, I'll have to euthanized animals, rather than let them starve.""At the worst, we would have to feed some of the animals to others."Please read the article attached below, and you'll see how heartbreaking the situation is...
-Where will your money be used?
All the funds will go to the International Animal Rescue. International Animal Rescue (IAR) is an animal protection and conservation non-profit organizations that comes to the aid of suffering animals with hands-on rescue and rehabilitation and the protection of wildlife habitats. Your money will be spent on rescuing animals, buying medical care stuff, protecting wildlife habitat, and so on. With your donation, IAS has the ability to take the best possible care for animals!
They need our help, now more than ever.
These beautiful creatures are innocent just as we-humans are.
We will go through this together, AS ONE. What matters the most is not the amount of money you donate, the most important part is the intention to HELP. We're living on this planet with numerous animals, and it's time to show and spread our love!
